Before lunch today, my second youngest brother asked if he could pray. After thanking God for good health after sickness for two of his brothers, he continued and thanked God for work, cows, and manure, so that our food could grow. Amen.
He continued and thanked God for ... manure, so that our food could grow. Amen.
Joel Salatin talks about doing a manure audit when he is asked to consult with a farm. It appears that farmers often spend enough money disposing of manure, and purchasing chemical fertilizer, that they could support another full-time farm person if they would just use the manure as God intended.
Indeed, manure is truly something the farmer (and, therefore, all of us) should be thankful for.
I'm sure there is some way of spiritualizing our own manure and it causing us to grow, but I can't think of how to make it fit without it just making me laugh. alot.
