Newest Continent

Brother #4 (age 8) today informed us all that New Mexico was a continent. It took us a while, but we managed to convince him it was a state instead.

At least he didn't think is was an island, a down-under, or a subcontinent.

On second thought, if Arizona is "a world away," doesn't it make sense that there would be a continent between here and there?

just not understanding that New Mexico was actually part of the United States. "But it's Mexico!" they protested.

Things going the way they are now, it (along with about 6 or 8 other "states") will revert to Mexico somewhere mid-century. And they may take back more than was taken from them, judging by the demographic changes I'm seeing and reading about in Missouri (and Kansas).
