Sssssssssso.....

The boys caught two ring neck snakes today. According to tradition, we named them with names beginning with W. Winchester made good his escape, but we released this pretty little one (who was about 6 inches long.) These are the only type of snakes that I enjoy holding. They tend to like to wind gently around and through your fingers, and don't seem to mind being held, either.

Last time I held a snake was not too long ago. I was with my biology class, so the first suggestion from everyone's mouths was "let's dissect it." We chose not too however as we are not (very) bloodthirsty and didn't want to kill the critter. But I cannot claim to enjoy holding any sort of snake. I treat them with the utmost fear; no matter how harmless the snake I always hold it just behind the head so if it were suddenly to sprout fangs, I would be safe.

I agree with you, Sarie. I do not like snakes!!!! I found a snake in our backyard about 5 feet long. I almost stepped on it. I had my brother carry it all the way to the edge of our property.

Yesterday when I was hanging clothes on the line I happened to look down and there was a huge (I mean five-foot-long-several-inches-around huge) black rat snake right by my foot. Thankfully, I already knew it was a good snake, but it still gave me a start. I had to walk off and wait for it to go where ever it was going before I could finish my laundry!

Well I guess you wouldn't be too fond of my neighbors snake "Bruce". He's a 5 foot python and very cool. Although he does tend to wrap around your neck and arms as opposed to the fingers!
Also I got to say that I'm really not at all surprised that your brothers still bring things home. Although I fully condone the acquiring of creatures by young boys, I can remember when every Sunday your brothers would bring a new bug to show me and occasionally for Ryan to eat.

Its a CUTE snake, Sarie, JFC, and Daisy! I promise it won't bite you.

We found about six or seven last year, and about three or four so far this year, Loz. :-)

Mybelovedismine-
---ahh, you have finally come to your senses! I'm trying. It isn't easy for me. ;-)
--you and everyone else!
Who else loves red this year?

That sounds alarming, Mrs. C! My brothers found a black rat snake of about that size last week, but it escaped into the barn and eluded them.

Nate- I think I might like Bruce as long as he was wrapped around my arms, but I would lose that fondness if he went for my neck. I prefer not to have reptiles around my neck!
LOL! I vividly remember that! It is a point of sorrow to me that no pictures exist for blackmail purposes. *grin*

Well I'm sure you can find something a bit more shameful than that. When one is a boy it isn't that looked down on to eat bugs.
