Playdough!

We used this recipe and made some homemade playdough today!  Nathan had never played with playdough, so I was a little apprehensive that he'd have trouble understanding that it wasn't food, but he did great and had a lot of fun with it!  :)

Do your kiddos like playdough?  Have you ever made playdough?

Thanks FootPrints and Chelcie! He did really, really enjoy it... he was so serious and focused about it, though, I couldn't get a shot of him smiling! Playdough is serious business, I guess... ;)

Hi, yes.. my son loves playdough too but what he plays with is play-doh. never made one of our own since a family friend gave him a set (with a shape maker) for his 2nd birthday.

Thanks for sharing the recipe :)

We've gone through several batches of playdough already. It's such a fun thing, but oh so messy!!

It can be a real lifesaver on rainy days though!

I make my own too. It's so easy, I can't imagine actually buying the stuff!

By the way, what program do you use to make your adorable headers?

Hi, Shenski! How fun - I think I need to look around for some play dough accessory toys... I remember a "spaghetti" maker a friend had when I was little - so fun! :)

Peachtree - I think it's great for those hot hot afternoons, too, when it is just too hot to run around outside. I just use paintbrush and play around with it. :) It isn't too hard... but if you wanted me to play around and make you one you can send me the pictures you'd like in an email and I could probably make one for you... might take me a few weeks, but I find it relaxing when I do have time to play around with it! ;) (nj1712(at)gmail(dot)com)

playdough is the bestest times infinity.

it's a good day when i end up with it beneath my fingernails. i love the classic storebought brand... but making it has it's appeal. I would say saveup for some fun "tools" they have very reasonable sets. there's one that MissO loves that has scissors. which i think a genius way to introduce cutting skills with. how to hold and operate them. (of course everything has it's place. gives a chance to teach this)

she also loves any sort of imprinting tools. which you can find around the house.

Abi ~ I love the idea of playdough scissors! And we'll have to look around for things to imprint with. I love seeing your fun playdough pictures, so I knew we needed to try some and see if Nathan liked it. :)

I enjoy making play doh with my fellows too. It keeps them busy forever. We'll choose a theme, like things you'd find in the ocean, and they'll make fish and shells and seaweed all day.
He is daring! I love those little cheeks! Sweet!

Lula Lola - a theme sounds so fun- we'll have to try that! :) And thanks... :)
