November?
It is hard to believe that November is almost gone. The blustery weather and fallen maple leaves outside leave no doubt that fall is here and that winter is getting ready backstage for her entrance soon.
We are doing very well. We did indeed get married June 2nd, as some of you can testify, and the silence since then has been a combination effect of no internet and being busy. We have internet now... I'm not sure if that means we'll be more likely to post here or there or anywhere... but we can at least keep up with our email!

I'm...
... reading emails about music, and rsvp's
... trying to make a sample of a pew bow for the kind people who have offered to decorate the church, and discovering that the ribbon I bought is not, in fact, wired ribbon, contrary to my assumption and wishes, also, rediscovering again that I am not talented at tying pretty bows.
... pondering the last minute things- cake table decorations? cream or white table coverings?
... wondering whether the busyness and stress level will go down before the wedding? Or escalate?
... doing the final shopping. (Fortunately, the entire bridal aisle was 50% off yesterday at Hobby Lobby, so I was able to get some of the things I had to buy there for less than I expected.)
... trying to be sensible, realistic, and organized.
... looking at furniture I've been offered by a friend, washing a coffee table, trying to think through what will need moved and when to the house.
... smiling.... did I happen to mention I'm getting married to Micah?

General Update on Life
Last week... Amy, one of my out of state bridesmaids, came to visit. We had a good time and addressed lots of wedding invitations, sipped many companionable cups of tea, had chocolate, stayed up late talking about everything and nothing, and went shopping for fabric.
This week... I bought 200 pictures of my good looking fiance and myself- I threatened to wallpaper our new kitchen with them, but was persuaded to put them in wedding invitations instead. ;-) I mailed most of those yesterday...I'm still rounding up a few stray addresses, but most of them are now sailing through the postal services channels, and hopefully ending up in the right places!
Today... I went into town and had a safety inspection done on the family car, and did some shopping.
There. :-) I figured I should at least let you all know that yes, I'm still alive... also, that I'm doing wonderfully well. I'm busy. But happy. :-)

Where Go the Boats?
by Robert Louis Stevenson
Dark brown is the river,
Golden is the sand.
It flows along forever,
With trees on either hand.
Green leaves a floating,
Castles of the foam,
Boats of mine a-boating—
Where will all come home?
On goes the river
And out past the mill,
Away down the valley,
Away down the hill.
Away down the river,
A hundred miles or more,
Other little children
Shall bring my boats ashore.
Dark brown is the river,
Golden is the sand.
It flows along forever,
With trees on either hand.
Green leaves a floating,
Castles of the foam,
Boats of mine a-boating—
Where will all come home?
On goes the river
And out past the mill,
Away down the valley,
Away down the hill.

A hundred miles or more,
Other little children
Shall bring my boats ashore.

Today
Take dad to work
Meet up with wonderful future sister-in-law to do wedding shopping and hang out
Meeting with wedding cake person
Eye doctor appointment
Pick dad up from work
That's the plan. I'm currently at a wi-fi coffeeshop, enjoying some hot chocolate... and hi speed internet.
(edit: I actually posted this after getting home from all of that... whew... we got a lot accomplished! But it feels good to be home after being gone all day.)

Did I happen to mention...
...that I'm getting married to Micah? Oh, I did? Aha. Moving right along...
Micah has posted a satirical, how-it-didn't-happen version of Our Story. It makes me laugh. Then he posted on the idea of finding 'The One'. Good thoughts.
So... do you know what getting engaged means? Yes, yes, getting married, but before that. Wedding planning! It started with stacks of paper, but now I have a three ring binder rapidly filling with checklists, scribbled notes, purple sticky notes, green ribbons ("What do you think of this color of sage?"), pictures of dresses, contact information for a cake person... you get the picture. :-)
If any of you have wedding planning advice, feel free! (I may not follow it, but I'll appreciate it anyway!) Especially if you have suggestions for how to incorporate my brothers in the ceremony without them lighting candles. (The thought of young boys with flammable materials at my wedding gives me the shivers.) Two of them are at that in between stage, too old for ring bearers, too young to be ushers- but I want them to be involved. Also, any suggestions on classical pieces of music to use before the ceremony would be lovely. :-)

Power!
After exactly one week without power, due to a storm, our house got power again last Saturday evening. :-)
